The Alabama Autism & Asperger Support and Info Network, in collaboration with The Gallini Group, is proud to announce Spring Training Camp as we enter IEP season 2013.

Dr. Matthew Remick and Dr. Sandra Redden will provide valuable information on the DSM changes and present practical strategies on effectively working with your child inside the school, in public and at home.

You will also hear from Crystal Richardson, State Coordinator with the Alabama State Department of Education, about Alabama’s 2020 Plan and how it may affect your child’s educational curriculum and diploma path. She will also provide a review of the parental rights with Cindy Robinson, Alabama State Department of Education.

Finally, James Gallini, Esq. and Gina Lowe, Esq. will provide simple and critical strategies for a successful IEP meeting. There will be a question and answer portion, as well.

-How to ask for and receive a draft copy of your child’s IEP prior to your IEP meeting.

-How to maximize your time as a valuable member of the IEP Team.

-How is the IEP Team truly designed to work and who must be in attendance?

-How to understand the services page on my child’s IEP and truly monitor progress.

-Can I record my child’s IEP meeting?

-What are ‘Supplementary Aids and Services’ and how can they be implemented in a practical sense?

-Where do I put my emotions before, during and after the IEP meeting?

-How can I be an effective advocate and partner with my school district without being viewed as adversarial or overbearing?
